The newest, cuddliest Los Angeles Dodger, pitcher David Wells (seen here pitching for his hometown San Diego Padres earlier in the year) got a big win for his struggling team in his nationally broadcast debut yesterday against the Mets.
But the most surprising part was the 5th inning bunt single that the 250-pound-plus Boomer legged out in the shambles known as Shea Stadium.
For anyone who witnessed that historic event, they won't be surprised that the Dodger ground crew is working feverishly to add a new element down the first-base line, should Wells get to working with Maury Wills and try to start a streak.
