Stairs at the Trop

Matt Stairs is 40 years old, has played for 11 major league teams and 37 renegade outfits across numerous borders, and his hobby is collecting bad cholesterol.

He's from Canada, but he looks like a roadie for .38 Special.

Put the ball in his wheelhouse at your peril. He hit a home run so prodigious against Dodger flamethrower Jonathan Broxton in the NLCS that it even caused Tommy Lasorda to momentarily shut the hell up.

He's been with the Phils for just a few months, but he IS philadelphia sports, distilled to its lumpy essence.

Go Phils.
